From national playground to world tournament
2025 marks a special milestone in Huynh Thi My Tien's career when she participated in the World Athletics Championship in Japan for the first time. This is a tournament that brings together the best athletes in the world, giving My Tien the opportunity to compete with top opponents.
My Tien said that she considers this ticket a great honor, any athlete would like to compete in the biggest playground in athletics.

At the age of 25, Huynh Thi My Tien is currently the number one runner in Vietnam in the women's 100m hurdles event. She has gradually affirmed her position through a series of domestic and regional tournaments.
At the 2024 national championship, My Tien won the gold medal with a time of 13 seconds, just 0.03 seconds behind the national record. A year later, at the 2025 national championship held in Da Nang, she continued to win the gold medal with a time of 13 seconds 52, showing stability in performance.

Previously, My Tien also represented Vietnam at the 2025 Asian Championship, where she competed directly with Dina Aulia (Indonesia) - one of the strongest opponents in the region.
In this tournament, Dina Aulia achieved 13 seconds 11 in the qualifying round, while My Tien reached 13 seconds 51. Although she could not overcome her opponent, her performance was positively evaluated by experts.
Goal of protecting achievements at the 33rd SEA Games
2 years ago, Huynh Thi My Tien made a big mark when she won the gold medal in the women's 100m hurdles at the 32nd SEA Games (Cambodia) with a time of 13 seconds and 50. This is My Tien's first gold medal in this playground as well as an important turning point in her career.
Looking forward to the 33rd SEA Games taking place in Thailand at the end of this year, My Tien's task is to defend the championship. This is also an important goal for the Vietnamese athletics team this year.
Therefore, during the final stage, My Tien and coach Nguyen Van Loi increased their training intensity to 2 sessions/day, in the morning from 7:30 and in the afternoon from 15:00.

Sharing about the preparation process for the 33rd SEA Games, the Vinh Long athlete said: "I have just recovered from an injury, so my physical strength is not at 100%. Currently, I am focusing on training speed and endurance. The whole team maintains two sessions of practice per day to best prepare for the upcoming Congress".
After returning from the world championship, My Tien aims to learn more technical experience and speed control in each step. She realizes that international athletes have a superior physical foundation and strength, which is also a factor she wants to improve in the coming time.
My Tien's biggest opponent at the 33rd SEA Games is athletes from Thailand, especially the Indonesian runner - Dina Aulia. Experts predict that the race for gold medals will be very fierce.
"My goal at the 33rd SEA Games is to be in the group with medals. Currently, opponent Indonesia is developing very quickly, they will be the biggest challenge", My Tien said.

The careful preparation shows the determination of the Vietnamese athletics team in maintaining its position in the region. Huynh Thi My Tien is not only the hope of the women's 100m hurdles event, but also the face of the young generation of athletes in regional and continental competitions.
With stable performance, a sense of discipline and proper preparation, she is expected to continue to bring achievements for Vietnamese sports at the 33rd SEA Games.
