On October 8, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Khanh Hoa province confirmed that the Department had issued a warning to Mr. Nguyen Minh Dat - Director of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Technical Training Center (Centre) and reprimanded Ms. Hoang Thi Hang Nga - Deputy Director in charge of professional matters of the Center.
Previously, this Center also organized a self-criticism for the violating officers and decided to review and criticize the accountant, head of training department, and treasurer.
Before a series of officials at the Centre were disciplined, the Department of Culture and Sports of Khanh Hoa province announced the conclusion of the inspection of the selection, management and use of athletes for the U15, U17, U19 and U21 football teams. The inspection clarified that some coaches had signs of embezzling money from players as Lao Dong had reported earlier.
In particular, the inspector pointed out loopholes in the management and payment of wages to young players at the Centre.
After the incident, the cultural sector directed the inspection agency to transfer the case file with signs of criminality to the investigation agency, Khanh Hoa Provincial Police.
Up to now, the Department of Culture and Sports of Khanh Hoa province has decided to force coach Nguyen Ty of the U17 team and coach Dang Dao of the U19 Khanh Hoa team to quit their jobs.
These two men, as head coaches, deliberately abused their positions and powers, causing losses to the state budget and embezzling part of the athletes' wages and food money.
Khanh Hoa Province Department of Culture and Sports has directed to collect 500 million VND to pay into the state budget.
In addition, Mr. Nguyen Ty and Mr. Dang Dao have remedied the consequences, paid wages and meals to the athletes based on the agreement between the coaches and athletes; and at the same time, paid all the lost money to the State Budget.
