According to Lao Dong, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has fully commented on the 16 teams (8 men's, 8 women's) will participate in the 2026 National Championship on registering the number of foreign players.
The decision on how many foreign players each team can register and the number of foreign players playing at the same time will be announced by the Vietnam Volleyball Federation soon.
This year, the 2025 National Championship Charter stipulates that each team can register a maximum of 2 foreign athletes in the official list of participants in the tournament, but only 1 foreign athlete can be brought to the field at any time.
The Hung Vuong Volleyball Cup 2025 has witnessed many teams bringing on two foreign players at the same time, thereby creating fierce professional competitions.
However, the Hung Vuong Volleyball Cup is not part of the official system of the national tournament. This is a tournament organized by Phu Tho locality.
December 2025 will be the final decision on the Charter of the 2026 National Championship. If the Charter is completed, the issuance date is expected to be in January 2026.
In phase 2 of the 2025 National Championship, the Organizing Committee witnessed 8 men's teams and 8 women's teams hiring foreign players to improve their skills. In addition, the final round of the 2025 National A-Class Volleyball Tournament has had 4 teams hire foreign players.
According to the plan, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation will still maintain the plan to organize the 2026 National Championship in 2 phases.
