At the 33rd SEA Games, shooter Trinh Thu Vinh became one of the bright spots of Vietnamese sports in shooting.
In the women's 10m air pistol event, Thu Vinh won the gold medal with a score of 242.7 points. This score not only broke the SEA Games record, but also surpassed previous milestones at the 2018 ASIAD (242.1), the 2025 World Championship (241.2) and the 2024 Olympic silver medal (241.3).
This achievement demonstrates Trinh Thu Vinh's stability, focused competitive spirit and outstanding skills in the regional and international arena, while opening up many prospects for the future.
At the 33rd SEA Games, Thu Vinh won a total of 4 gold medals (2 individual events, 2 team events) and broke 3 SEA Games records.
Sharing after the tournament, Thu Vinh admitted that she had to face great pressure before the SEA Games started: "Winning the first 2 gold medals not only helps me feel more comfortable, but also puts more pressure".
According to her, in some of the next events, especially the mixed event, the results were not as expected, making it difficult for the female shooter to control her psychology. However, it was these experiences that helped Thu Vinh practice perseverance, learn how to face pressure and improve competition tactics.
The achievement at the 33rd SEA Games is an important stepping stone for shooter Trinh Thu Vinh to aim for a higher goal at the 2026 ASIAD arena taking place in the middle of next year.
