Salary of volleyball player Vi Thi Nhu Quynh if she goes to Indonesia

HOÀNG HUÊ |

Going to Indonesia to compete opens up great opportunities for volleyball striker Vi Thi Nhu Quynh in both professional and income aspects.

Vi Thi Nhu Quynh is preparing to become the next name for Vietnamese women's volleyball to go abroad in 2025, after her senior Tran Thi Thanh Thuy. The main striker born in 2001 has reached preliminary agreements to join Yogya Falcons - a rookie of the Indonesian national championship (Proliga).

The fact that a Vietnamese athlete is going abroad is no longer a new thing. But for Nhu Quynh, this trip is more meaningful than a professional contract. It is a big step forward in the career path both on the field and in terms of finance.

Currently, the contract details have not been announced, but according to research, the two sides have agreed on important terms and can move towards signing the contract. After the news that Nhu Quynh will go abroad, the salary is a factor that fans are interested in.

According to Salary Expert, Proliga is one of the highest paid tournaments in Southeast Asia and is in the top 5 in Asia. An average player playing here can earn an average of 135 million rupiah per season equivalent to more than $8,000 (about 213 million VND) for 4 months. Compared to the average income of Indonesians, this figure is 5 times higher.

Foreign players are always a special resource for Proliga teams. Therefore, they are willing to pay outstanding salaries to attract talent. The case of Gina Mambru - who played in Vietnam - set a record with a salary of 60,000 USD in just one season when playing for Pgn Popsivo Polwan in the 2017 season.

Proliga 2026 will start from January 2026 and can last until mid-May 2026. Thus, the tournament will take place for about 4 months. Although there are no official figures, it is assessed that the salary for Vi Thi Nhu Quynh can be around 4060 million VND/month, excluding bonuses, sponsorships and other support.

If this number is true, Nhu Quynh's income will be many times higher than the average salary of athletes playing volleyball in Vietnam.

The high or low salary depends on many factors such as the playing position, individual performance, media coverage and financial potential of the home club. With a height of 1m75 and the ability to finish flexibly at both the wing, the back row and serve the ball in attack, Nhu Quynh is considered one of the most talented strikers of Vietnamese women's volleyball at present.

At the age of 23, she is entering the most energetic and stable stage of her career. Therefore, fans believe that this hitter will have many opportunities in Indonesia.

Although having to compete in a competitive environment and not having many advantages over teammates, that pressure will create an opportunity for Nhu Quynh to affirm her position.

The trip to Indonesia is not simply a journey abroad for a young athlete. That is also a signal that Vietnamese volleyball athletes are being recognized by the international market for their true value. If she performs well, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh can be the one to connect so that in the future, there will be more Vietnamese athletes competing abroad.
