In early 2025, badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh received good news when she moved up the rankings, from 32nd to 28th in the world.
In addition, the Phu Tho native and the Vietnam badminton team also welcomed the return of expert Hariawan Hong (Indonesia). Previously, this expert ended his coaching contract for the Vietnam badminton team and returned home at the end of last year.
"We are completing all the required paperwork so that expert Hariawan Hong can return to work this February. Currently, the Vietnamese badminton team has begun professional training.
The internal coaching staff focuses on training programs to improve physical strength as well as help athletes improve their techniques," informed Mr. Khoa Trung Kien - Head of the Badminton Department (Department of Physical Education and Sports).
Mr. Hariawan is considered to have good expertise and understands Vietnamese athletes very well to implement effective training methods, helping players gain confidence when competing.
This time back, the Indonesian expert is expected to help key players such as Nguyen Thuy Linh, Le Duc Phat, and Nguyen Hai Dang achieve their best form in tournaments, especially towards the 33rd SEA Games taking place in December in Thailand.
In addition, this expert is also in charge of developing a plan to select and train talented athletes to succeed Vietnamese badminton.
Last January, when Nguyen Thuy Linh competed in the Indonesia Masters badminton tournament, Mr. Hariawan also appeared on the field to direct, helping her reach the quarterfinals of the tournament. Therefore, the return of this expert brings good news to Thuy Linh and the players as they will have support in tournaments in 2025.
According to the schedule, Thuy Linh will participate in the German Open taking place from February 25 to March 2. This is a tournament in the BWF Tour Super 300 system of the Badminton World Federation.
