Today (May 23), Nguyen Thuy Linh entered the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Masters 2025 badminton tournament against the No. 1 seed Wang Zhiyi. The representative of China is currently the 2nd tennis player in the world, while Thuy Linh is ranked 26th.
Therefore, Wang Zhiyi is completely superior to Vietnam's number 1 female tennis player.

As expected, in the first set, Wang Zhiyi quickly showed his class. She took the lead early and always maintained a gap of 6-7 points. On the other side, Thuy Linh always had to play chasing.
Although Thuy Linh tried very hard, Wang Zhiyi then accelerated strongly, giving the Vietnamese representative no chance to respond. Set 1 ended with a 21-11 victory for Wang Zhiyi.
Entering set 2, Thuy Linh regained her spirit and soon created a surprise for the opponent. She took a 5-3 lead thanks to effective counter-attacks and better regulation than in the first set.
However, Wang Zhiyi still knows how to regain control of the game with his class. She chased and then led Thuy Linh with a score of 11-8. From that moment on, the No. 1 seed of the tournament created an overwhelming game. His ability to read situations well and effectively in long-range play has helped Wang Zhiyi continuously lead.
There were no surprises as Wang Zhiyi won with a score of 21-15.
In the end, Thuy Linh suffered a 0-2 defeat to Wang Zhiyi. This result caused the Vietnamese representative to stop in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Malaysia Masters badminton tournament.
Thus, all three Vietnamese tennis players, Thuy Linh, Hai Dang and Duc Phat, have said goodbye to this year's tournament.
According to the plan, Nguyen Thuy Linh will participate in the Indonesian Open Badminton Tournament as part of the World Tour 1,000 system of the World Badminton Federation. This tournament takes place from June 3 to June 8.
