On the afternoon of November 4, the organizing committee of the 11th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Table Tennis Tournament 2024 held a press conference to introduce the tournament.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc - Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper said that this year's tournament had a very large number of athletes and participating units. This partly proves the attraction of the tournament over the years.
To ensure the progress of the tournament, the organizing committee stipulates that each athlete can only register for a maximum of 2 competition events.
Through the tournament, the organizers hope that this will be a playground for professional and amateur players, while promoting the movement of table tennis practice in the capital as well as provinces and cities across the country.
This year's tournament takes place at Hanoi Gymnasium from November 7 to November 10, 2024 with the participation of nearly 400 professional and amateur tennis players - from 68 units in provinces and cities.
The tournament includes 12 events: men's singles with leaders; advanced men's team; amateur men's team; advanced men's singles; amateur men's singles from 45 years old and above; amateur men's singles under 45 years old; women's singles from 45 years old and above; women's singles under 45 years old; men's doubles with leaders; mixed doubles over 45 years old (regardless of rank); mixed doubles under 45 years old (regardless of rank) and women's doubles over 45 years old (regardless of rank).
Notably, the tournament will have the participation of leading players such as Nguyen Duc Tuan (champion of SEA Games 31, runner-up of the 2024 National Championship); Nguyen Dang Hiep (bronze medalist of the 2024 National Championship); Nguyen Duy Phong (champion of the 2024 Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championship's youth men's singles), Dinh Anh Hoang, Le Dinh Duc, Le Tien Dat (Vietnam national table tennis team)...
The new feature of this year's tournament is that the organizing committee will award trophies, flags, bonuses, and medals to teams, pairs, and individuals who win first, second, and third prizes in each competition category. The total prize value is 150 million VND (an increase of more than 20% compared to the previous tournament).
