On October 2, in Hanoi, the signing ceremony and introduction of the representative face of VTV LPBank International Marathon took place with the name "Cat Ba Sunset Colors 2024".
The tournament will take place in Cat Ba archipelago (Hai Phong) and will be broadcast live on VTV2 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on October 19, 2024. This is a large-scale sporting event, promising to attract thousands of domestic and international professional and amateur athletes.
The 10 representatives of this year's race are athletes Nguyen Thi Oanh, Pham Tien San, Khuat Phuong Anh, Doan Thu Hang, Tran Van Dang, Nguyen Trung Cuong, Luong Duc Phuoc, Bui Thi Thu Ha, Vu Tien Manh, and Sam Van Doi.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Bui Thi Huyen - Deputy Head of Sports Department, Vietnam Television (VTV) said: "This is the first year VTV has organized a running tournament for the running community, with the participation of many athletes, runner groups... promising to be an annual tournament for runners.
The presence of national athletics teams as representatives will increase the prestige of the tournament and is a great honor for the organizing committee. Hopefully, the preparation of the organizing committee will bring a successful tournament and new experiences for the athletes."
The VTV LPBank International Marathon will take place on a beautiful coastal route, with romantic sunset views and a vibrant atmosphere.
This is an opportunity for the runners community to show their spirit of protecting the value of Cat Ba World Natural Heritage recognized by UNESCO. Each runner will be an ambassador, promoting the image of Cat Ba to domestic and international friends.
Through the event, Vietnam Television and the organizers hope to build a series of large-scale, prestigious and quality annual running races for the community of running enthusiasts in Vietnam. Thereby promoting tourism, culture and boosting the economy of the host locality in particular and Vietnam in general.
National athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh shared: "This is a professional, prestigious tournament and promises to have new experiences like the colored powder throwing stage. This helps athletes relive their childhood. Hopefully everyone will have a memorable race together, sharing emotions, immersing themselves in the beautiful space of Cat Ba".
In order to join hands to help localities overcome the consequences caused by super typhoon Yagi, the VTV LPBank International Marathon 2024 will donate 100,000 VND for each BIB sold from September 10.
At the same time, for each kilometer run by the athletes, 10,000 VND will be deducted. The entire amount will be used to help people overcome the consequences of storms and floods and stabilize their lives soon.
