After more than three months of tireless training and competition, the Vietnam men's volleyball team has completed the first training session in 2025. This is part of the preparation plan for the 33rd SEA Games taking place in December this year in Thailand.
Under the leadership of coach Tran Dinh Tien, the team entered the training session from April 15 at the Hanoi training center, with an initial force of 18 players. However, only 16 players actually participated in the professional training sessions when the two athletes withdrew for personal reasons.
The core members of the team gather many experienced hitters such as Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Tran Duy Tuyen, Quan Trong Nghia, Quoc Du, Nguyen Van Quoc Duy, Che Quoc Lo Vit... This is considered the best force, rich in potential, capable of creating a new momentum for Vietnamese men's volleyball in the transition period.
In phase 1, the Vietnam men's volleyball team has participated in 3 official tournaments: the Asian Club Championship, AVC Nations Cup and SEA V.League 2025. Each tournament is a testing step, a necessary testing for the long journey towards the SEA Games arena.

At the 2025 Asian Club Championship, the participating team will be called Sport Center 3, replacing the Border Guard club. Although they have not won any, this is a valuable opportunity for the players to get used to the top intensity of competition and clearly reveal the gaps that need to be filled.
The issue of defense, especially the blocking and passing of the ball, continues to be a weakness that prevented the team from implementing the attacking options as desired. However, it is undeniable that the progress in the pace of attack and the ability to coordinate with the group has shown signs of improvement.
The team's playing style will be more complete at the AVC Nations Cup 2025. With 8th place out of 11 teams, the Vietnam team left a strong impression. In particular, Ngoc Thuan and his teammates almost surprised the 2024 champion Qatar.
The Vietnamese players were only able to submit after a series of five sets. That match was not only a milestone in terms of expertise, but also demonstrated a brave competitive spirit, not giving up against opponents who were stronger in any aspect.
The peak of this first training period must be mentioned in the performance at SEA V.League 2025. If last year, the team was almost left empty-handed through two stages, this year, coach Tran Dinh Tien's students have a bronze medal in stage 1 and a silver medal in stage 2. This is the best achievement ever at the regional playground.

In addition to tactical advances, SEA V.League 2025 also witnessed the brilliance of individuals, in which Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and Tran Duy Tuyen were the two most stable and persistent pillars, contributing greatly to important victories.
At the end of phase one, the Vietnam men's volleyball team returned to the home team. The players will practice with the club.
According to the plan, the second training session will take place in October, right after the national championship ends. With what has been accumulated in the past time, fans have the right to expect a new, more confident and courageous image of the team in the final period of the year, especially the upcoming 33rd SEA Games.
