According to information from the Department of Culture and Sports of Quang Ninh province, for the first time, the Department of Culture and Sports coordinated with the People's Committee of Binh Lieu district to organize the 2024 Quang Ninh Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament - Dutch Cup within the framework of the 2024 Binh Lieu Golden Season Festival, scheduled for the end of October.
According to information from the tournament organizing committee, teams from communes and towns under districts, towns and cities in Quang Ninh province and football clubs established by competent authorities are all entitled to register to compete in the tournament. These teams and clubs include players from ethnic minorities, residing in that area or locality.
In the tournament, teams register and compete in their national costumes. It is expected that about 6 teams will register and compete in this tournament. The teams will compete using the 7-a-side Football Law issued by the Vietnam Football Federation. The tournament will be held at the Cultural Center of Huc Dong Commune, Binh Lieu District, and is expected to open on October 26, 2024.
The mountainous border district of Binh Lieu is famous nationwide for its women's football movement - where ethnic minority girls in their traditional costumes perform a charming and enchanting style of football. After Binh Lieu, ethnic minority girls in other districts, towns and cities in Quang Ninh province also started playing football.
In Binh Lieu, Huc Dong commune is considered the cradle of the women's football movement in the district. Late in the afternoon, after returning from working in the fields, San Chi women in their traditional costumes are engrossed in the football field.
In Huc Dong commune alone, there are 4 women's football clubs in the villages of Na Ec, Po Dan, Luc Ngu, Khe Mo. Outstanding members from these 4 teams are often in the commune's club that specializes in playing friendly matches and competing between communes in the district. Especially on holidays and Tet, the women's football clubs of Huc Dong commune in particular, and the whole district in general, have extremely impressive friendly tournaments, attracting a large number of people and tourists.
