On April 25, the 8th Congress of the Vietnam Athletics Federation (term 2025-2029) took place in Hanoi.
At the Congress, the Executive Committee of the 7th Vietnam Athletics Federation summarized the positive and negative aspects. In particular, the achievements for the SEA Games and ASIAD arenas of Vietnam's athletics in the recent term have been recognized as achieving medal targets.
In the 8th term, the Vietnam Athletics Federation was streamlined when combined with many departments, committees and down to only 3 units that were the specialized committee, funding advocacy and federation office. The number of executive committee members also decreased from 23 people in the previous course to 19 members.

Accordingly, the Congress elected a new Executive Committee consisting of 19 personnel. Mr. Hoang Ve Dung was elected President of the Vietnam Athletics Federation for the 8th term. Previously, Mr. Hoang Ve Dung was the President of the Vietnam Athletics Federation for the 6th and 7th terms.
The three Vice Presidents of the Vietnam Athletics Federation, term 8, include Mr. Pham The Trieu, Nguyen Trung Hinh, and Nguyen Dai Duong. Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung continues to hold the role of General Secretary.
Speaking after being elected, Mr. Hoang Ve Dung shared: "The Congress was successfully organized. We believe that in the 2025-2029 term, the activities of Vietnam's athletics will continue to develop so that the country's athletics can achieve the best results".
Meanwhile, General Secretary Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed: "In the 8th term, Vietnam Athletics will have more professional activities and organize tournaments. In particular, the application of science, technology and technology for high-performance coaching work in the national sports team is built and soon applied".

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports congratulated and praised the achievements of the Vietnam Athletics Federation in the recent term.
However, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh affirmed that the Vietnam Athletics Federation needs to more clearly demonstrate its role to achieve milestones in management and results for the competition of Vietnam Athletics in general in the arenas.

Entering the 2025-2029 term, the Vietnam Athletics Federation continues to focus on the task of developing the national athletics movement and improving achievements in high-performance competition.
The Executive Committee of the 8th course is expected to be enthusiastic and capable enough to help Vietnam Athletics complete its goals, including key tasks such as achieving results at the 33rd, 35th, and 35th SEA Games, 2026 ASIAD as well as seeking opportunities to participate in the 2028 Olympics.
