The coaching staff of the Vietnam Canoeing Team has developed a professional plan to participate in the 33rd SEA Games, in which rower Nguyen Thi Huong is expected to be given the opportunity to compete.
Still keeping a bright face and a familiar friendly smile, Nguyen Thi Huong talked after the recent National Strong Team Championship in Hai Phong: "I am still preparing professionally according to the training plan set by the coaching staff. I really hope I will have good results at the upcoming 33rd SEA Games. I myself am nervous but I understand that the spirit will determine success in competition".
A year ago, Nguyen Thi Huong made history as the first Vietnamese canoeing player to officially compete in the 2024 Olympics in France. After 1 year, the player said he was still in the best form and had completed the professional tasks assigned by the Vietnam Canoeing Team.
For 2 consecutive years (2024, 2025), Nguyen Thi Huong has the opportunity to participate in 2 important Games, respectively the 2024 Olympics and the 33rd SEA Games. The female player said that being proactive in training and professional competition has helped her accumulate a lot of experience to improve herself further.

This year, Nguyen Thi Huong went through a number of important international tournaments such as the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship and the 2025 Asian Championship before the 33rd SEA Games. In the 2025 Asian Championship, Nguyen Thi Huong won 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. At the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship, she won a gold medal in the women's C2 200m category (competing with her teammates Diep Thi Huong).
Looking at her professional journey, Nguyen Thi Huong once made her mark with the achievement of 5 gold medals at the 31st SEA Games held in 2022 in Vietnam. That result recorded Nguyen Thi Huong as one of the athletes with the most gold medals of the Canoeing Team at the 31st SEA Games. 2 years ago, canoeing was not included in the 32nd SEA Games program in Cambodia. However, Nguyen Thi Huong still won 3 gold medals in the Vietnam Chess Team competing in the 32nd SEA Games. Every SEA Games has memorable memories for me. The biggest lesson that coaches learn is to never give up in the face of challenges, player Nguyen Thi Huong shared.
Evaluating her student, coach Luu Van Hoan of the Vietnam Canoeing Team once discussed: With the ability to show in many international arenas in recent times, Nguyen Thi Huong will have the opportunity to continue to achieve the highest results. We will focus on professional preparation for key rowers preparing for the 33rd SEA Games.
