Thailand tightens security, opens priority lane for 33rd SEA Games

Thailand mobilized thousands of police officers, opening priority lanes to ensure security, and facilitating the movement of sports delegations at the 33rd SEA Games.

Currently, sports delegations from countries are flocking to Thailand to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games. At this time, the host country has deployed many security solutions to create the best conditions for sports delegations.

According to information from the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), the congress service system is fully prepared, from the time the delegations set foot in the airport until the entire stay and competition period.

Right at airports, volunteer teams are deployed to support information and guidance on travel. In addition, the police force (including the police in uniform) is mobilized with a number of up to thousands of people to ensure absolute security for athletes, coaches and officials.

Notably, in terms of transportation system, Thailand has established a priority lane dedicated to vehicles serving the 33rd SEA Games. The groups traveling by bus from the hotel to the competition area all have police escorts and coordinate with the traffic force.

The organizers said that this solution is to ensure travel progress but still not disrupt the lives of Bangkok people.

Along with security work, on December 1, Thailand put into operation the International Radio and Television Center and the Media Coordination Center to serve the 33rd SEA Games.

The project has a budget of 1 billion baht, is equipped with a modern technology system, meets international standards and is capable of meeting the press's working needs throughout the congress.

According to Ms. Sudruthai Lertkasem - General Director of the Thai Public Relations Agency, the 33rd SEA Games is expected to be the busiest tournament with the broadcast of more than 30 sports. The Organizing Committee is also considering granting broadcasting rights to sports federations through its own platform with the goal of not being a profit, aiming to spread the image of the SEA Games more widely in the region.
