After 5 days of exciting competition with 301 exciting matches, the 2024 Teqball World Championship has come to an end at Nguyen Hue walking street, Ho Chi Minh City. The Thai Teqball team has shown its superior strength by winning the championship in 4/5 events including: Women's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and women's doubles.
Teqball is a combination of football, table tennis and sepak takraw, in which sepak takraw is Thailand's forte, so it is understandable that they dominated this year's World Championship. In the men's singles event, Apor Gyorgydeak (Romania) won the championship.
Sharing at the closing ceremony, Mr. Gabor Borsanyi - President of the International Teqbal Federation, co-founder of Teqball - emphasized that through organizing this year's tournament, Ho Chi Minh City has shown its capacity to organize large-scale international sporting events, meeting the highest standards.
He said that the 2024 Teqball World Championship has been covered by hundreds of sports media on 5 continents, watched by millions of viewers in more than 70 countries on television. Thanks to that, this great sporting event has spread to every corner of the world.
To help Ho Chi Minh City develop Teqball, the International Teqball Federation has given a special gift of 1,000 Teqball tables and a training package worth 5 million Euros.
Teqball World Championship 2024 - Teqball World Championship 2024 is organized by Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in coordination with the International Teqball Federation - FITEQ.
The event took place from December 4-8 at Nguyen Hue Walking Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The tournament gathered 221 athletes, including 86 female athletes and 135 male athletes from 95 countries and territories.
Teqball is a sport that combines table tennis, sepak takraw and football, played in indirect confrontation. This sport was born in Hungary in 2014 by former player Gabor Borsanyi, businessman Gyorgy Gattyan and computer scientist Viktor Huszar.
