Former Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios recently shared his personal thoughts on the current situation of tennis player Djokovic in a conversation with the media. The former tennis player met Djokovic at Indian Wells in March. Kyrgios revealed that he had never seen his senior miss his family so much.
According to Kyrgios, Djokovic expressed his sadness at being away from home for a long time to participate in tournaments. This, combined with fatigue from the effects of aging and prolonged injuries, makes Djokovic feel that his career may be at the end of its run.
"I asked him why he was still here and Djokovic replied that he didn't know. He wants to spend more time with his wife and children after a long journey of dedication to tennis," Kyrgios shared. Despite being a professional, Djokovic could not hide his fatigue and may not play for another year.
According to Kyrgios, like Andy Murray, Djokovic felt that his peak playing career could be over and now it was time to make important decisions for the future.
"If I were Djokovic, I would rest and spend many years with my family instead of rushing into coaching like Murray," Kyrgios added.
Throughout his illustrious career, Djokovic has won all the highest honors. But in the past two years, he has encountered many difficulties. Unstable form and the rise of the younger generation such as Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have made it impossible for him to maintain absolute dominance.
However, the Serbian tennis player still left his mark with impressive achievements, such as winning the Olympic gold medal and reaching the milestone of 100 ATP Tour titles.
However, in recent statements, Djokovic could not hide his frustration. After Roland Garros' semi-final defeat to Sinner, he said this year could be his last tournament.
"I don't know yet but it's very possible that this is the last time I'm standing on this pitch. If that were true, I had a great farewell to the atmosphere and affection from the audience," Djokovic once shared.
