New policy helps athletes feel secure
Decree 349/2025/ND-CP dated December 30, 2025, Regulating regimes and policies for members of sports teams participating in concentrated training and competition has taken effect from February 15. National sports teams returning to training from February 22 (the 6th day of Tet) will officially enjoy new special regimes and policies.
Many new points are stipulated in Decree 349/2025/ND-CP and overall, the change is specifically directed according to 3 points including a salary system approaching the specific value of labor, a solid social security network and a mechanism to prioritize training and long-term job creation after athletes end their careers.
Each content of the new regime and policy has changed to begin application with different prescribed amounts (from salary to bonuses). Director of the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, acknowledged that the new policy has taken effect and become a motivation for coaches and athletes to wholeheartedly focus on training and competing to achieve the best results for Vietnamese sports. Also from the new policies and regimes according to Decree 349/2025/ND-CP, professionals believe that coaches and athletes will see sports as a profession that ensures a livelihood with income, worthy bonuses, and the participants themselves have the right to insurance benefits and job arrangements when retiring from the arena.
From 2026, with the implementation of the new policy regime, everything will create synchronization and unity in 1 document and the application will avoid shortcomings and overlaps.

In 2026, Vietnamese sports will participate in many major events such as ASIAD 20 in Japan, the X National Sports Games, the Asian Beach Games in China, the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia and the Youth Olympics in Senegal. The selected coaches and athletes are key faces, aiming to ensure high achievements for national sports.
