Vietnam is one of the fastest growing Esports markets in Southeast Asia. According to the assessment data recently published by the Vietnam E-Sports and Entertainment Association (VIRESA) and OTA Network (Vietnam E-commerce White Book 2022-2023), there have been notable figures on the Esports market.
The number of people participating in e-entertainment in Vietnam reached 28.2 million people, accounting for 28.7% of the population. In 2023, the number of Esports followers in Vietnam will account for 16% of the total population, equivalent to Indonesia and Taiwan (China).
Vietnam is also in the Top 5 countries with the highest number of Esports followers in Southeast Asia in 2023. This shows that e-sports in Vietnam are increasingly developing, not inferior to other popular sports.
With the great potential and opportunities that Esports brings, FPT has decided to cooperate with the GAM Esports team (under GAM Entertainment). According to this comprehensive cooperation agreement, FPT will be the official sponsor of GAM Esports in the team's journey to participate in international tournaments in the coming time.
Mr. Hoang Viet Anh, Chairman of FPT Telecom, FPT Corporation, said: Cooperation with GAM is a strategic step that demonstrates FPT's long-term commitment to accompanying and developing Vietnam's e-sports industry. We not only want to bring strong resources, but also open up opportunities for Vietnamese teams to compete in the top arenas in the region and the world.
We expect to attract more investors, together promote sustainable development, create many professional tournaments, and elevate the position of Vietnamese Esports.
In the context of upcoming major sporting events such as the SEA Games, ASIAD, and Olympics making Esports an official sport, FPT believes this is a golden opportunity for Vietnamese Esports teams to affirm their talents and reap outstanding achievements in the international arena.
Meanwhile, GAM Esports is the most successful team in Vietnam, with 11 wins of the Vietnam Championship Series (VCS), gold medals at the 31st SEA Games, many times representing Vietnam on the global stage and most recently entering the Top 4 at the 2023 Asian Games. With more support resources from FPT, GAM Esports is confident that it will reap more success in upcoming tournaments, especially tournaments of continental and world stature.
