How much is enough?
Mr. Le Tri Truong - General Secretary of VFV - is one of the participants in the first Vietnam Sports Economic Forum in 2023.
As a guest and representative of an attractive national sports federation organizing a tournament, Mr. Le Tri Truong once expressed his opinion: "Thanks to the environment of a professional sports tournament, the products of business owners (there are football teams) are shown to be the quality of matches as well as products and services offered to the market for customers (fans) to enjoy.
Professional sports teams can only collect resources, profits and survive if they participate in competing in the professional sports tournament system. Management must also work synchronously from changing competition regulations or increasing the number of top-level matches to help their products (there is a sports tournament) be promoted more widely, thereby having the opportunity to create more economic values in exploiting accompanying services...".
Looking back at reality, volleyball is a sport with a national championship that creates attraction and interest from fans. However, the money collected from the tournament to reinvest in volleyball activities is not large.
From the 2024 National Volleyball Championship, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has begun to have revenue from the support of the signal production and live broadcasting unit (VTVCab unit). This is understood, the National Volleyball Championship has sold and earned money from television rights. The amount was kept secret by VFV according to the agreement between the parties.
The Organizing Committee of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship announced on February 13 that this year's tournament will continue to be broadcast live on VTVCab's ecosystem. Mr. Le Tri Truong said that the amount of television copyright may not be large but it is appropriate at the present time and acceptable.
Need for dynamism
The proceeds from the television copyright of the National Volleyball Championship will not be raised as a fund but as one of the resources invested in specific volleyball activities in 1 year. With money from television rights, the Volleyball Federation used a part to invest in professional activities for the National Volleyball Teams.
In 2024, the women's volleyball team participated in 7 different major and minor tournaments. In 2025, the two Vietnamese men's and women's volleyball teams will participate in a total of no less than 12 major and minor tournaments, while the women's volleyball team will participate in the 2025 World Championship and the 2025 U21 World Youth Championship.
Therefore, if there are not enough resources, many activities will be difficult to complete.
In addition to organizing professional competitions, volleyball also develops movements, organizes training programs to develop young players and tournaments, professional programs of beach volleyball.
The training of referees and coaches is equally important.
Solving the problem of synchronous development requires sustainable resources.
