Nguyen Thanh Chung was born on September 8, 1997 in Trung Mon commune, Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province.
Thanh Chung spent his childhood playing for the Tuyen Quang Children's Football Team. He then studied at the Hanoi High School for the Gifted, the youth training center of the Hanoi Football Club, and joined the U19, U23 and national teams.
