Information before the opening ceremony
The 33rd SEA Games is an event marking the return of Southeast Asia's largest sports festival to the Golden Temple country after 18 years.
The passing of Thai King Sirikit at the age of 93 also caused the organizers to orient the program in a solemn and restrained manner. However, Thailand still aims to bring an emotional opening ceremony, demonstrating cultural identity and the ability to organize international events.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Atthakorn Sirilatthakorn said that the program is still on a grand scale despite facing many difficulties, from the historic flood in the South to budget fluctuations. He affirmed that the opening ceremony is expected to create a strong spillover effect, contributing to the goal of attracting tourism with an estimated revenue of about 15 billion baht.
The highlight of the ceremony was the message "We are one" - the main theme of the 33rd SEA Games. The event includes five major performances, combining traditional art, contemporary culture and modern projection technology.
The performances are built to honor the creativity of the Thai people, especially the younger generation - the image that the host country wants to introduce to the region and the world.
Before the opening ceremony, sports delegations, including Vietnam, participated in the rehearsal at Rajamangala. The host country expects the opening ceremony to leave a strong impression of Thailand's hospitality, dynamism and connectivity with Southeast Asian countries.
