Tran Tu Linh is one of the mainstay players of the current Vietnamese women's volleyball team. She is part of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team throughout the tournaments from 2023 to 2024.
The Ha Tinh native has shown her maturity over the past period. With an ideal height (1m80), a 2m90 jump, and a 2m84 block, Tu Linh always has a well-rounded first-step and good defensive ability. Her powerful attacks on the sidelines and behind the 3m line have brought important points for the national team.
At the club level, Tu Linh is the only female player in the Duc Giang Chemicals squad in 2024. She is also an indispensable pillar of the team. Under the guidance of head coach Pham Van Long, Tu Linh and her teammates have grown significantly. 2024 marks the first time this team will participate in the Asian Club Championship.
Besides being the main scorer of Duc Giang Chemicals, Tu Linh also defends accurately, being a reliable stopper for the club. The female player born in 1999 always shows a fiery competitive spirit, desire and promotes team spirit.
Due to her busy training and competition schedule, Tu Linh rarely has the opportunity to visit home. Tet is the occasion for her to spend time with her family and review the past year.
"As a professional volleyball player, I often have to be away from home to compete, practice and participate in tournaments both domestically and internationally. Usually, I can only go home a few times a year, depending on the competition schedule.
Therefore, Tet is the most special and meaningful occasion, not only for me to rest but also for me to reunite with my family after a hard year. Tet is the time when I temporarily put aside the pressure from the football field, taking advantage of the little time to feel the warmth of my hometown and relatives," Tu Linh told Lao Dong.
Tu Linh's hometown is Ha Tinh, about 4 hours away from Hanoi by car. This year, because Tet comes early, Duc Giang Chemicals has planned to practice and rest after the 24th of the lunar calendar so that the players can arrange time to return to their families.
Therefore, Tu Linh and her teammates are very focused on practicing their skills and waiting for the Tet holiday.
She shared: "Tet in Ha Tinh has a very unique traditional beauty, especially the peaceful and close atmosphere. I especially like typical Tet dishes such as banh chung and gio, especially the feeling of sitting by the fire with my family watching the pot of banh chung and sharing stories of the whole family after 1 year.
This year, I will buy some decorations and Tet gifts for my parents. When I return home, I will probably take my mother to the market to see peach and kumquat trees to buy and decorate my house. Just being with my family, no matter how simple, Tet is always complete and peaceful. For me, home is the place to return to."
It is the peaceful moments, reunion during Tet and time with family that will help Tu Linh regain her spirit, ready to return to the practice and competition cycle to contribute to the club and the team in 2025.
