A representative of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation once discussed: The coaching staff will develop a professional plan to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games. For that reason, which player is most suitable is decided by the Board of Directors.
For the first time in many years of attending the Southeast Asian Games, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team was assigned the target of striving to win a gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games.
In previous SEA Games competitions, Vietnamese women's volleyball players had many opportunities to touch the championship. However, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team only won the silver medal.
The women's volleyball ( Lam mi) event at the 33rd SEA Games has 7 participating teams including the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Vietnam (concurrent runner-up) and Thailand (concurrent champion).
The 4 teams of Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines are predicted to have the advantage of winning a place in the semi-finals of the 33rd SEA Games. However, the coaching staff of each of the 4 teams have not made any comments about the opponents because each team is cautious.
Sharing in local media, the Thai Women's Volleyball Team aims to win the gold medal and defend the championship at the 33rd SEA Games. The Philippines and Indonesia teams aim for the highest results.
No matter the team, they have a goal to compete. The goal is to motivate and challenge players to strive to overcome. We are very confident that Vietnamese women's volleyball players will have the highest concentration when competing in the 33rd SEA Games," said a representative of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation.
According to Thai press, top players competing abroad will participate in the Thai Women's Volleyball Team competing in the 33rd SEA Games. Meanwhile, the Philippines and Indonesia teams are implementing training programs to achieve the highest performance at this year's tournament.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once shared in the early stages of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team's training phase 2 to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games: "The player force is concentrated on those who have the best form at the 2025 National Championship.
We will prepare carefully to choose the most suitable person. The unfortunate absence this time is without Bich Tuyen. However, the coaching staff still has a plan for players to prepare professionally".
In fact, the 14 players whose names have participated in the 33rd SEA Games are all players who have maintained a stable performance through the tournaments since the beginning of the year.
However, not all of these players have created breakthroughs like Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen. Bich Tuyen's failure to participate in the 33rd SEA Games is a regret for fans and experts.
The Vietnam women's volleyball team competed with a team without Bich Tuyen at the 2025 World Championship. From here, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet found a solution for the opposite position.
Two years ago, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team entered the final and won the silver medal at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia with a squad without Bich Tuyen.
After 2 years, the force participating in the 33rd SEA Games of the Vietnam women's volleyball team has added new faces compared to the squad that competed in Cambodia: Kim Thanh, Anh Thao, Le Thanh Thuy, Le Thi Yen, Luu Thi Hue.
"We will focus on our expertise until we leave for Thailand so that the whole team can prepare carefully," coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once expressed.
