On the morning of August 31, Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan and VFF leaders met and encouraged the Vietnamese women's team before the training trip in China, towards ASIAD 2026.
At the meeting, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan acknowledged the serious training spirit and efforts of the Vietnamese women's team in the process of preparing for ASIAD 2026.
During the holiday, coach Hoang Van Phuc and his team still maintained the intensity of training, focusing on perfecting their expertise and aiming for important goals in the preparation plan for the Asian Games held in Japan in mid-September.
According to VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan, the Vietnam women's national team is entering a force transfer phase. Many young players who have played and accumulated experience at the U17, U20 Asian Women's Championships as well as the National Women's Football Championship are gradually affirming their ability and ready to succeed the older generation.
Giving opportunities to young players is considered an important part in orienting the development of Vietnamese women's football in the next 4-year cycle. The appearance of head coach Hoang Van Phuc is also expected to bring positive changes to the team in the transition and force building process.
VFF President believes that women's football in West Asia, Central Asia and East Asia is receiving increasingly strong investment. Therefore, the Vietnamese women's national team needs to continue to make efforts and proactively improve professional capacity to maintain competitiveness in international tournaments.
VFF also affirmed that it will continue to create the best conditions in terms of regime, living and training plan for the team. Before entering ASIAD 2026, the Vietnamese women's team will have a training trip in China from September 2 to November 9.
During this time, the team is expected to play two friendly matches. This is considered an opportunity for the coaching staff to check the force, improve tactics and help players accumulate more experience before entering the competition at ASIAD.
On behalf of the whole team, captain Pham Hai Yen thanked the VFF leaders for their concern and encouragement. The striker and captain of the Vietnamese women's team affirmed that the whole team will continue to train seriously, try their best and aim for the best results at ASIAD 2026.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will train in Hanoi until the end of September 1, before going to China for training. After completing the training camp, the team will move to Japan to participate in ASIAD 2026.
ASIAD 2026 women's football kicks off on September 14. The Vietnamese women's team is in the same group as host Japan, Taiwan (China) and Thailand.
Coach Hoang Van Phuc's team will meet Taiwan (China) in the opening match on September 14. After that, the Vietnamese women's team will successively face Japan on September 17 and Thailand on September 21.
