National athlete wins 2024 Run for Peace

Athlete Nguyen Trung Cuong won the men's advanced open event (distance 8,750m) at the 2024 Hanoi Moi Open Newspaper Race.

On the morning of September 29, at Ba Kieu Temple and the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi), the final round of the 49th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2024 took place.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the race, Ms. Vu Thu Ha - Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee - said that after 48 times of organization, the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Race continues to affirm itself as one of the traditional tournaments of Vietnamese athletics, through the number of runners meeting the general standards at the grassroots level.

This year, the number of athletes who met the general standards at the grassroots level and the number of teams participating in the finals increased significantly compared to previous years, while ensuring professional requirements, improving both quality and scale, affirming the strong influence of this meaningful tournament.

The competition content of the 2024 Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run includes the grassroots and advanced systems. In which:

Movement system: 1,750m run for men and women in middle and high schools of districts, towns (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake); 1,750m run for women from universities, colleges, vocational high schools, and foreigners (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake); 3,500m run for men from universities, colleges, vocational high schools, and foreigners (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 3,500m run for women in production and armed forces (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 5,250m run for men in production and armed forces (3 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake).

Advanced course for athletes of provincial and municipal track and field teams: Women's 5,250m open race (3 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); Men's 8,750m open race (5 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake).

Men's advanced open category (distance 8,750m): First - Nguyen Trung Cuong (Ha Tinh); Second - Duong Minh Hung (Army); Third - Le Van Thao (Thanh Hoa).

Advanced content for women in the extended block: First - Bui Thi Thu Ha (Thanh Hoa); Second - Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh (Hai Duong); Third - Ly Ngoc Ha (Army).

Male production workers - armed forces: First - Lo Van Hong (Tay Ho); Second - Lo Bao Tam (Hoang Mai); Third - Ha Van Duoc (Ba Vi).
