After days of exciting competition, the 2025 Davis Cup Group III - Asia/Pacific International Tennis Tournament officially ended on the morning of July 20, 2025 at the Hanaka Paris Ocean Park Tennis Court Complex, Bac Ninh Province. The matches ended late due to the impact of heavy rain.
Under the enthusiastic cheers of the home fans, the Vietnam team played resiliently through the group stage and the decisive play-off match to stay in the league. tireless efforts helped the Vietnamese tennis team win 2-1 against the Sri Lankee team in the play-off match for the third place in the 2025 Davis Cup in the Asia/Pacific region.
This year's tournament is organized by the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) under the sponsorship of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). hosting the Davis Cup Group III right at home not only gives the team an advantage in spirit and competition conditions, but also contributes to promoting the image of the country and friendly - hospitable - professional Vietnamese people to international friends.
The tournament brings together nearly 50 excellent tennis players from 9 countries including: Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Syria, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and host country Vietnam. The teams have competed fiercely with the determination to qualify for the Davis Cup Group II in 2026.
Successful relegation is a solid step in the development journey of Vietnamese tennis with a strategy of rejuvenating the human resources. More importantly, the spirit of competition, dedication and desire to contribute of the young tennis players will be the premise for further progress in the near future," said Mr. Nguyen Hong Son - Vice President and General Secretary of VTF - Director of the tournament.
After a dramatic group stage series with 21 matches taking place at Hanaka Paris Ocean Park's international standard stadium, the three best teams will qualify for the Davis Cup Group II in 2026, including: Thailand, Indonesia, Syria. This is a result worthy of the impressive performances of the teams.
Successful relegation teams include: Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Singapore, Vietnam. The two teams relegated to Group IV are Sri Lanka, Cambodia.
Immediately after the match with the Sri Lanka team ended, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet - Director of the Vietnam Department of Physical Training and Sports, VTF leaders and sponsors gave the Vietnam Team a bonus right at the central stadium of the Hanaka Paris Ocean Park Tennis Court Complex, Bac Ninh province with a total value of 230 million VND.
