Athletics has Hoang Nguyen Thanh
On September 29, Vietnamese athletics had two famous faces, Hoang Nguyen Thanh and Pham Tien San, participating in the prestigious marathon race of the world, the Berlin Marathon 2024 in Germany. Hoang Nguyen Thanh is a member of the Vietnamese athletics team and holds the national record for the marathon - 42km men's in Vietnam. Pham Tien San is the face of the duathlon team (running - cycling) in the modern triathlon group.
Historically, this is the first time an athlete wearing the Vietnamese Athletics Team jersey has competed in the Berlin Marathon. The tournament is part of a series of prestigious world races, attracting the participation of the world's top long-distance runners. Nguyen Thanh's participation, regardless of the result, has brought an important point: the image of Vietnamese athletics has been more noticed.
Previously, in January 2024, after many years, Vietnamese athletics boldly registered to compete again in the Asian Marathon Championship. We had Hoang Nguyen Thanh and Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa participating and each of them achieved their best results to set a new national record (Nguyen Thanh has a record of 2 hours 18 minutes 43 seconds; Ngoc Hoa has a record of 2 hours 44 minutes 52 seconds).
The General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation - Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - once expressed his opinion that recently, Vietnamese athletes, both amateur and professional, have been approaching international marathons more, so there are more opportunities to compete, gain experience, and earn good income if they are in the top group. When opportunities open up, depending on each condition and ability, athletes can participate in important and prestigious international competitions (depending on whether they meet the prescribed standards or not).
In mid-September 2024, two familiar faces of the modern triathlon group, Lam Quang Nhat and Nguyen Thi Thuy Van, competed in the META: Time: Trials with a 10km route in Bangkok (Thailand). The race attracted the participation of many top Southeast Asian athletes.
From such specific cases, it shows that Vietnamese athletics will be known more.
Each tournament has its own meaning.
LPB Ninh Binh women's volleyball team won the runner-up position in the 2024 Asian Women's Club Championship. This is the first time a Vietnamese women's volleyball team (club level) has achieved this result.
To achieve the best overall development, Vietnamese women's volleyball still needs long-term investment (from clubs to the national team). However, Vietnamese sports have gained a very prestigious image with the case of LPB Ninh Binh women's team at the 2024 Asian Women's Club Championship.
Before Vietnam's athletics team participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics (France), we competed in the 2024 Asian Relay Championship (May 2024 in Thailand). At that time, Vietnam's athletics team won the first Gold Medal in the women's 4x400m relay event (this was the first time the tournament was held).
Right at the stadium in Thailand at that time, officials of the Asian Athletics Federation applauded and congratulated Vietnam's athletics championship achievement.Professionals understand that when achieving achievements, Vietnamese sports will certainly have its own position.
