The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) decided to apply VAR technology to all matches in the 2026 National Second Division Finals to improve operational quality and ensure accuracy in important situations.
The final round of the National Second Division League 2026 takes place from June 13 to 16 at Quy Nhon Stadium (Gia Lai) with the participation of 4 teams including Tre Hanoi, Hue, Lam Dong and Truong Giang Gia Dinh.
This is the second time VAR technology has been deployed in the National Second Division, after being applied for the first time in the 2024 season finals.
According to VFF, putting VAR into use at the decisive stage of the season continues to be part of the plan to improve the quality of organization and management of national football leagues, not only in the professional system but also in semi-professional and youth leagues.
To serve the operation of VAR, VFF coordinates with Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) and FPT Play to deploy a technical system equivalent to matches in the V.League.
Each match will have at least 8 cameras including panoramic, close-up angles, two offside cameras, two cameras behind the goal and other supporting camera angles to serve the VAR referee team to analyze situations.
The organizers will also hold a professional dissemination session on the VAR operating process on the afternoon of June 12, in Quy Nhon with the participation of the coaching staff, captain and representatives of players from the teams participating in the final round.
According to the schedule, the first semi-final match between Tre Ha Noi and Truong Giang Gia Dinh takes place at 4:00 PM on June 13. The remaining match between Lam Dong and Hue takes place at 7:00 PM on the same day.
The two winning teams will jointly win promotion tickets to the National First Division League in the 2026-2027 season. The two losing teams will continue to play the remaining promotion match on June 16.
The entire match in the final round of the National Second Division League 2026 will be broadcast live on the VFF and FPT Play platforms.
