Domestic pepper prices: Unexpectedly flat
As of 11:30 today (8.), the domestic pepper market has stagnated after many days of price decline. Purchasing prices in key growing areas currently fluctuate between 153,000 - 155,000 VND/kg.
Gia Lai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc provinces all maintain the price of 153,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Dak Lak and Dak Nong continue to be the two localities with the highest prices in the market, stable at 155,000 VND/kg.
The sideways price move reflects the cautious psychology of businesses and traders in the context that the market is looking for new signals from domestic consumption demand and exports.

World pepper prices: Indonesia turns to decrease
In the world market, pepper prices have not fluctuated much, except for the Indonesian market. After a day of stagnation, pepper prices tend to plummet. Black pepper decreased by 0.37%, standing at 7,322 USD/ton (equivalent to 191,398 VND/kg), white pepper also decreased, anchored at 9,917 USD/ton (about 259,231 VND/kg).
Meanwhile, the price of black pepper of 500g/l in Vietnam remains unchanged, currently trading at 6,700 USD/ton (equivalent to 175,138 VND/kg), 550g/l at 6,800 USD/ton (177,752 VND/kg). Vietnam's ASTA white sugar remains at 9,700 USD/ton, about 253,558 VND/kg.
The Malaysian market is stable with black pepper at 9,200 USD/ton (about 240,488 VND/kg) and white pepper at a high level of 11,900 USD/ton (equivalent to 311,066 VND/kg). The price of ASTA 570 black pepper in Brazil is trading around 6,800 USD/ton (177.752 VND/kg).
In India, Garbled pepper is still trading at 67,200 rupees/kg (equivalent to 213,616 VND/kg), while Ungarbled pepper is at 207,258 VND/kg.

Assessment and forecast
Domestic pepper prices today remained stable after many adjustments. Market sentiment is still waiting for new developments from export activities as well as consumer demand in major markets.
According to the Customs Department, Vietnam's total export turnover in the first 4 months of the year reached 510.6 million USD, black pepper reached 423.2 million USD, white pepper reached 87.4 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2024, the export volume decreased by 10.6%, however, the export turnover increased by 45.0%.
The US was still the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper in April, reaching 6,404 tons, up 45.9% over the previous month. Followed by markets such as: India is 2,525 tons, up 57.6%; UAE is 2,224 tons, up 74.2%; Germany is 1,594 tons, up 3.3%, China is 1,337 tons, up 161.6%...
In the medium and long term, pepper prices are expected to remain high thanks to stable demand from major consumer markets such as the US, EU, and the Middle East, along with supply that has not shown any signs of a strong increase.
