Assessment and forecast
According to the International Pepper Association (IPC), global pepper output in 2025 is forecast to reach about 520,000 tons, a slight decrease compared to 2024.
The main cause comes from unusual weather developments in many key growing areas such as Vietnam, Indonesia, India and Brazil. Unseasonal rains, prolonged heat waves and pests and diseases have caused productivity to decline, while a part of farmers in some countries continue to shrink their areas or switch to other crops with more stable economic efficiency. This trend has caused global supply to not improve significantly in 2025.
