New arrivals every day
Since December 23, flowers, ornamental plants, and fruits for Tet have been sold busily on the streets of Can Tho City.
To have 10,000 quality Phalaenopsis orchid branches to serve the Tet holiday, Mr. Hung (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) had ordered the company to take care of them 3 months ago. The vases, pots and decorative accessories were prepared 4 months ago. Since the sale, every day, Mr. Hung has created new designs for customers to choose from.
This year, the flower garden of Mrs. Tran Thi Kim Nga (Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City) supplies the Tet market with a variety of models such as marigolds, Taiwanese chrysanthemums, Korean raspberry chrysanthemums, lisianthus, ornamental peppers, etc. Each type of flower is planted at different times and is carefully cared for by Mrs. Nga to bloom in time for Tet.
“In addition to supplying to traders, I keep 1,000 flower baskets to sell at the Tet market. Thanks to good care and careful transportation, when the flowers are brought down to the batch, they all bloom brilliantly, and the quantity lost is insignificant,” said Ms. Nga.
This Tet holiday, Mr. Pham Van Duong (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) prepared about 1,000 watermelons of various types to sell on the market. These watermelons were imported from Vinh Long. In addition to green-skinned watermelons, Mr. Duong also imported yellow-skinned watermelons and seedless watermelons.
“I started selling watermelons at the Tet market on the night of December 24. Customers’ needs are increasingly diverse, so I have to prepare many types of watermelons. When buying watermelons, customers will receive decorative stickers. I also have a service of engraving words on watermelons if anyone has a need,” said Mr. Duong.
No price pressure
Since December 14th, Mr. Hung has assessed that purchasing power is increasing day by day. With stable prices, many customers have come to buy flowers early, making Mr. Hung excited.
“The flower samples at my place range from 500,000 VND to tens of millions of VND per product. This price is sold at the same price as usual to make it easier for customers to access. Up to now, the amount of flowers consumed is very positive. Phalaenopsis orchids are almost high-end products, can be displayed for a long time, I hope everyone will take the opportunity to buy to choose the best quality flower samples, I can also go home to celebrate Tet early”, Mr. Hung shared.
Since December 23, Ms. Nga has seen many positive signs of purchasing power. Customers mainly shop during lunch or evening breaks because they are busy. The flowers are beautiful and the prices are affordable, ranging from 60,000 - 130,000 VND/basket, suitable for everyone's budget, so this garden does not encounter excessive haggling. Accordingly, Ms. Nga offers discounts to customers who buy in large quantities.
Mr. Duong said that the price of watermelons is not much different from last year, ranging from 350,000 - 500,000 VND/pair, depending on size. Although purchasing power is not high, Mr. Duong said that people are interested in this product.
“Just arriving at the lot on the evening of December 24, many people have come to consult the price. With the effort and expense spent, I hope that customers will not wait until the last day but will choose to buy watermelons early so that I can quickly sell out and go home to celebrate New Year's Eve with my family,” Mr. Duong expressed.
