1,052 delegates attend the Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress

On the afternoon of October 16, in Hanoi, the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term officially entered its first working day.

Attending the working session were Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 9th term;

Party Central Committee members: Head of Central Mass Mobilization Mai Van Chinh; Deputy Head of Central Organization Committee Nguyen Quang Duong; Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 9th tenure Nguyen Thi Thu Ha; President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang; representatives of central departments, ministries, branches and organizations.

Notably, there were 1,052 delegates representing classes, strata, ethnic groups, religions, armed forces, overseas Vietnamese and cadres of the Fatherland Front at all levels.

At the working session, the Congress conducted consultations to elect the Congress Presidium consisting of 55 delegates; of which 51 delegates were consulted and 4 Party and State leaders were invited to join the Presidium, including General Secretary and President To Lam; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; and Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong.

The Congress conducted consultations to elect a Congress Secretariat of 5 people; reported on the situation of delegates attending the Congress; discussed and approved the program and working regulations of the Congress.

Reporting on the situation of delegates attending the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term, Vice Chairman Nguyen Huu Dung said that the total number of official delegates attending the Congress was 1,052 delegates.

Regarding the structure of female delegates: 324 people (30.7%); delegates who are non-Party members: 492 people (46.7%); delegates who are ethnic minorities: 267 people (25.3%); delegates who are religious: 209 people (19.9%); delegates who are Vietnamese people living abroad: 21 people (1.9%); delegates who are enterprises: 152 people (14.4%); delegates who are full-time Front officials: 271 people (25.7%).

The youngest delegate, born in 2004, is delegate Ba Thi Ha, a representative of the Stieng ethnic group, Phu Nghia commune, Bu Gia Map district, Binh Phuoc province. The oldest delegate, born in 1929, is Major General Vo So, Chairman of the Vietnam Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association.

Within the framework of the Congress, the opening ceremony of the exhibition took place displaying images of the great national unity bloc and the results of the Front's work for the 2019-2024 term.
