On November 13, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to hold a press conference to introduce the Ministry of National Defense-level scientific conference "60 years of Binh Gia Victory - Historical values and lessons learned".
Speaking at the opening of the press conference, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thuy - Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department - affirmed that the Binh Gia Victory has gone down in the history of the Vietnamese people's resistance war against the US to save the country as one of the important milestones for the failure of the "Special War" Strategy, a part of the global military strategy of "flexible response" of the US empire applied to the battlefield in South Vietnam.
60 years have passed, but the great historical value of the Binh Gia Victory continues to become invaluable lessons, especially in the art of campaigning, using forces, applying fighting methods as well as combat operations, having a great influence for military agencies and units to apply in training practice for officers and soldiers today, meeting the requirements of modern warfare.
Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Sau - Deputy Director of the Institute of Military History - said that the conference will take place on the morning of November 22, 2024 in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.
The workshop aimed to continue affirming and clarifying the correct and wise leadership and direction of the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and directly the Central Bureau and the Regional Command - the decisive factor in the victory of the Binh Gia Victory.
The Organizing Committee of the conference has received 74 papers. The papers are carefully and seriously researched, closely following the content of the conference theme, contributing to clarifying the documents and exploiting events with a new, rich, and reliable perspective; the approach and problem solving methods are scientific, convincing, and ensure good quality.
According to the Organizing Committee, the workshop is expected to have about 450 delegates, representatives of Party and State leaders, ministries, branches, central organizations and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
In particular, it is expected that 3 historical witnesses, who directly participated in the Binh Gia Campaign, will attend the conference. They are: Mr. Bui Van Hung, born in 1942, former Deputy Squad Leader of Company 2, Battalion 800, Military Region 7; Mr. Mai Phuong Thanh, born in 1949, former Youth Volunteer who participated in the Binh Gia Campaign; Mr. Nguyen Huu Sinh, born in 1940, former Lieutenant, Reconnaissance Company 81, Battalion 4, Dong Xoai Group.
The Binh Gia Campaign (December 2, 1964 - January 3, 1965) was the first offensive campaign of the Liberation Army of South Vietnam on the Southeast battlefield during the resistance war against the US to save the country.
