On the afternoon of April 14, the Executive Committee of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee XIV, term 2020 - 2025 held the 38th Conference, focused on discussing the plan of arranging administrative units at grassroots level in the province.
At the conference, the Department of Home Affairs leaders presented the plan to arrange the grassroots administrative units in Soc Trang province. Accordingly, the number of communal administrative units will decrease from 108 to 43 (equivalent to 60.19%).

Soc Trang City will have 3 newly formed wards on the basis of merging existing wards of Phu Loi ward (merging ward 1, 2, 3, 4); Soc Trang ward (merged ward 5, 6, 7, 8) and My Xuyen ward (merged ward 10 into My Xuyen town and Dai Tam commune).
After arranging, Vinh Chau town is expected to have 3 wards and 2 communes; Nga Nam town has 2 wards and 1 commune. Ke Sach district still has 6 communes and Tran De district, 5 communes, Chau Thanh, My Tu, My Tu and Long Phu districts, each district and 4 communes and Thanh Tri districts have 3 communes and Cu Lao Dung district with 2 communes.
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee - asked relevant units to acquire and complete the comments of the delegates. Localities need to organize people to collect opinions seriously, publicly, transparently and in accordance with the law on the plan of arranging grassroots administrative units in the province as well as the plan to merge Soc Trang province with Hau Giang and Can Tho City.
