The Ministry of Public Security takes on the task of ensuring information security

Units will deploy the handover and receipt of functions and tasks to ensure information security from the Ministry of Information and Communications to the Ministry of Public Security.

On February 24, in Hanoi, a meeting of the Steering Committee was held to hand over and receive the functions and tasks of ensuring information security (IT) from the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) to the Ministry of Public Security.

According to the Ministry of Public Security's Electronic Information Portal, based on the policy of the Politburo and the Central Steering Committee summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017 of the 6th Central Conference, term XII, on transferring and arranging the functions and tasks of ensuring security and order from the Ministry of Information and Communications to the Ministry of Public Security, to be proactive in implementation immediately after the Government issued a Decree stipulating the new functions and tasks of the Ministries, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Steering Committee and the Working Group for the handover and receipt of the functions and tasks of ensuring security and order have been agreed to establish a Steering Committee and a Working Group to assist the handover and receive the functions and tasks of ensuring security and order.

Under the direction of the leaders of the two Ministries, members of the Steering Committee, and functional units of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Information and Communications have organized working sessions to directly propose directions for receiving and handing over the functions and tasks of ensuring security and order; building and perfecting the relevant legal system; implementing the receipt and handover of assets, finance, and logistics; organizing instructions for local police to receive the function of ensuring network security from the Department of Information and Communications.

At the meeting, leaders of functional units under the two Ministries basically agreed with the content of the central report; at the same time, recommended and proposed a number of solutions to effectively implement the handover and receipt of functions and tasks of ensuring security and order from the Ministry of Information and Communications to the Ministry of Public Security.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Public Security Pham The Tung acknowledged and praised the drastic and active participation of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, the Department of Information and Communications, and functional units under the two Ministries in coordinating the implementation of work related to the handover and receipt of information and Communications security functions and tasks from the Ministry of Information and Communications to the Ministry of Public Security.

The Deputy Minister requested the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications and relevant functional units of the two Ministries to organize meetings and specific assessments to unify and complete the contents; develop content, handover plan, program, and scenario for organizing the handover ceremony.

Based on the opinions at the meeting, draft a record of the handover of state management of information and Communications security work from the Ministry of Information and Communications to the Ministry of Public Security; send the draft to relevant functional units of the two Ministries to give opinions to complete the record, then report and propose to the leaders of the two Ministries.
