The Government Office has just issued Document No. 1783/VPCP-CN dated March 6, 2025, conveying the opinion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on reviewing the responsibility for slow implementation of the project to build the Plant and Animal Quarantine Station, Long Thanh International Airport (Long Thanh Airport).
Regarding the review of responsibilities for the delay in implementing the project to build the Plant and Animal Quarantine Station and Long Thanh Airport Phase 1, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to review and handle responsibilities similar to those implemented by the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) and report in Document No. 25/BGTVT-TCCB dated February 19, 2025.
The Long Thanh airport project includes 4 component projects: Component project 1 (headquarters of state agencies, including: Customs, Border Guard, Local Police, Animal/Property Health Quarantine, Airport Authority); Component project 2 (works serving flight management); Component project 3 (essential works); Component project 4 (land service works).
The Government's electronic information portal said that information at the meeting on the implementation of the Long Thanh International Airport Project held on January 25, 2025 chaired by the Prime Minister, for component project 1, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) has not yet arranged capital and has not completed procedures to approve the investment policy for the headquarters item of the agency for quarantine/ vat chat.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) and relevant agencies to review, clarify responsibilities and handle officials responsible for the delay in allocating capital for the headquarters of the dynamic quarantine station/ vat at component project 1.
At the same time, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry to be more urgent and stronger in implementing the project of the mobile/ vatal quarantine station headquarters under component project 1 (other agencies have completed).
Previously, in Document No. 1774/VPCP-CN dated March 5, 2025, the Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of Construction to learn from experience in the delay in organizing the implementation of assigned tasks on Component Project 4, Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1.
