On the afternoon of May 13, at Lach Huyen Port Area (Cat Hai District), Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company coordinated with Vietnam Maritime Corporation to solemnly organize the inauguration ceremony of the Investment Project to build Lach Huyen Container Port No. 3 and No. 4 - Hai Phong Port.
Attending the inauguration ceremony were comrades: Luong Cuong, Politburo member, President; Mai Van Chinh, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister; Vu Hong Thanh, Party Central Committee member, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Tran Hong Minh, Minister of Construction, leaders of central ministries, departments and branches, leaders of Hai Phong City and Hai Duong Province.

The investment project to build container ports No. 3 and 4 of Hai Phong International Port in Lach Huyen was approved by the Prime Minister in 2019, with Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company as the investor. The project has a total length of two wharves of 750m, a depth of -16m, capable of receiving 165,000 DWT (14,000 TEU) mother ships and 200,000 DWT reduce loads, along with barge wharves and advanced unloading equipment.
In particular, Wharf No. 3 and 4 are invested and operated according to the Green Port - Smart Port model, applying modern and automated technology, ensuring environmental standards, saving energy and sustainable development in line with the sustainable development trend of the world's maritime industry.

The output of goods through Hai Phong port has always increased, from 12 - 15%/year, reaching 190 million tons in 2024 and expected to be 212 million tons in 2025. In particular, the Lach Huyen Port area is planned to have the function of an gateway combined with international transit, with container, general cargo, bulk cargo, liquid/ air cargo, international passenger port, service wharf; capable of receiving container ships up to 18,000 TEUs; general ships, bulk cargo up to 100,000 tons, bulk cargo ships/air cargo up to 150,000 tons.

Mr. Pham Hong Minh - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company - said: The container berth project No. 3 and 4 has a strategic significance not only for Vietnam Maritime Corporation and Hai Phong Port, but also for the socio -economic development of Hai Phong City and the whole key economic region of the Northern region. The operation of two new container wharves will help raise the total unloading capacity of Hai Phong port by about 1.35 -1.5 million TEU/year, expand the scale of exploitation, promote strong growth in the field of logistics services, thereby improving the competitiveness of Vietnam's import and export goods in the international market.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Anh Quan praised and highly appreciated the efforts of Vietnam Maritime Corporation and Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company in focusing on investing resources to invest in many key projects in the field of maritime and seaports in Hai Phong. According to Mr. Le Anh Quan, this is an important event not only for Hai Phong port and Vietnam Maritime Corporation, but also for the city's socio -economic development. The city leaders are committed to always accompany and create the most favorable conditions for investors to continue the construction, operation and effective exploitation of the remaining ports in Lach Huyen, Nam Do Son Port, as well as invest in high -tech industrial parks, seaport service and modern logistics in the direction of green growth, circulating economy and sustainable development.
Mr. Pham Hong Minh also expressed his belief that, with the solidarity and determination of the entire industry, Hai Phong Port will continue to develop strongly, aiming to become a modern international container transit center, contributing to raising the position of the Vietnamese maritime industry on the global logistics map.

After the Ceremony, the leaders of the Central Government, the leaders of Hai Phong city and representatives of domestic and foreign partners performed the button pressing ceremony to inaugurate International Container Wharf No. 3 and No. 4 in Lach Huyen.
