At noon on August 6, 2025, local time (afternoon of the same day, Hanoi time), Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left the capital Cairo, successfully concluding their state visit to the Egyptian Arab Republic, continuing their state visit to the Angola state visit.

President Luong Cuong's visit to Angola is of great significance in many aspects to bilateral relations between the two countries. The visit contributes to maintaining high-level exchanges between the two countries, especially in the context that the two sides are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1975-2025).
Vietnam and Angola established diplomatic relations on November 12, 1975 . Vietnam is the second country in the world to establish diplomatic relations with Angola, just one day after Angola declared its independence.
Trade cooperation between the two countries has made positive progress, with trade turnover in 2024 reaching nearly 250 million USD. Vietnam mainly exports rice, textiles, coffee, candy, grain products... and imports of wood, wood products, and liquefied gas.
In terms of investment, as of December 2024, Angola has 4 investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered investment capital of 118.4 million USD. Vietnam has 4 investment projects in Angola with a total registered investment capital of 2.98 million USD.
Since the 1980s, Vietnam has sent many education and health experts to work in Angola, currently the number of Vietnamese experts working in Angola is more than 100.
Regarding cultural - tourism cooperation: In the capital Luanda, there is Ho Chi Minh Avenue about 3.4km long, one of the most beautiful roads in the capital. Many important agencies of Angola such as the MPLA Party, a number of ministries, branches, national broadcasters... are headquartered on the road named after Uncle Ho.
Angola is the area with the largest Vietnamese community in Africa. Currently, there are about 8,000 Vietnamese people living and working in Angola, most concentrated in the capital Luanda and major cities. Vietnamese commercial activities in Angola focus on the fields of retail, restaurants, construction, wood trade, and healthcare.
The Association of Vietnamese in Angola was established and licensed by the Angola Government to operate since April 2016. The Vietnam Business Association in Angola was established in June 2024.
