On the morning of May 5, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong presided over the official welcoming ceremony for President of the Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayaka on a state visit to Vietnam and attending the United Nations Buddha's Day in Vesak.
President of the Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayaka paid a state visit to Vietnam and attended the United Nations Buddha's hand ceremony on May 4-6 at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.
Attending the welcoming ceremony were members of the Party Central Committee: Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh; Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai; Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung; Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang.
Also attending the ceremony were: Deputy Minister of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong; Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Le Khanh Toan; Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Van Tuyen; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung; Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Trinh Thi Tam; Assistant to President Duong Quoc Hung.

A large number of children of the capital were present at the Presidential Palace waving flags of the two countries to welcome President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka and the high-ranking delegation of Sri Lanka.
This is Dissanayake's first visit to Vietnam as President (since November 2024), taking place at a meaningful time when in 2025, the two countries will celebrate the 55th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (July 21, 1970 - July 21, 2025). The visit contributes to strengthening political trust, promoting cooperation in all aspects to be more substantial and effective.
The convoy of vehicles carrying President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka into the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong was present on the red carpet to warmly welcome President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka leading the high-ranking Sri Lankan delegation on a state visit to Vietnam.

Representatives of the children of the capital came to present President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka with a bouquet of fresh flowers.
In the cheering music, President Luong Cuong and the President of Sri Lanka walked along the red carpet and stepped onto the podium.
After listening to the national anthems of the two countries, President Luong Cuong and President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka left the podium, bowed to the military flag and approved the Honor Guard to join the Vietnam People's Army.
Next, the two leaders introduced the members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries attending the welcoming ceremony.

After the welcoming ceremony, President Luong Cuong and President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka led the high-level delegations of the two countries to hold talks, evaluate the cooperation results between the two countries in recent times, and propose cooperation directions in the coming time.
The two leaders will also witness the signing of cooperation documents and press meetings.
