On June 9, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong received European Union (EU) Ambassador Julien Guerrier and EU countries Ambassador and Delegate to Vietnam.
At the meeting, President Luong Cuong was pleased to see that the Vietnam - EU relationship after 35 years of establishing diplomatic relations (1990 - 2025) has developed dynamically and extensively in many fields.
The President welcomed the EU's cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of green transformation, digital transformation, sustainable development, science - technology, renewable energy, infrastructure, and suggested that the two sides closely coordinate to develop this relationship more strongly and effectively, on the basis of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation, including promoting delegation exchanges at all levels, especially at high levels, to enhance political trust, create momentum for cooperation in all fields; effectively promoting existing cooperation mechanisms, coordinating to remove obstacles, and enhancing response to global challenges.
The President also asked the Ambassadors to speak up to promote the early completion of the ratification of the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnam's seafood exports, taking into account the difficulties and differences in the level of development between the two sides and the livelihoods of Vietnamese fishermen; helping Vietnam develop a sustainable marine economy and aquaculture.

On behalf of EU Ambassadors and Avocados in Hanoi, EU Ambassador Julien Guerrier affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of the EU in the region, especially Vietnam is an ASEAN country with many cooperation agreements with the EU on politics, trade - investment, defense - security... Ambassador Julien Guerrier affirmed that the relationship between the two sides is developing positively and still has a lot of potential for cooperation.
In the current complex context of geopolitics and global trade, the Ambassadors affirmed that they are trusted partners of Vietnam, expressed their desire for the two sides to strengthen cooperation, optimize the benefits brought by the EVFTA Agreement, facilitate each other's market access, affirmed that the EU wants to participate in contributing to Vietnam's integration and development; strengthen cooperation with Vietnam on green economy, digital economy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, justice, labor, national defense - security, climate change response with priority in implementing the Fair Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), infrastructure and transportation projects in Vietnam.
Thanking the President's opinions on the orientation to promote relations between Vietnam and the EU and member countries, the Ambassadors affirmed that EU countries will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnamese agencies to carefully prepare and successfully organize high-level delegation exchanges as well as have been implemented in the first months of the year; review, remove difficulties and obstacles, and effectively implement cooperation agreements reached between the two sides.
