National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the role of the Vietnamese community in Singapore in promoting relations between the two countries.

According to VNA, within the framework of the official visit to Singapore, on the evening of December 1, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly met with officials and staff of representative agencies and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Singapore.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung said that the Vietnamese community in Singapore currently has more than 25,000 people. They strictly abide by the laws of the host country, are truly a bridge between the people of the two countries and are highly appreciated by Singapore.

At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Minh Khuong, Lecturer at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (Singapore) shared his joy and emotion as the country is making strong changes in the new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise; expressed his high agreement on the urgency of carrying out a revolution in streamlining the apparatus of the political system so that the apparatus can operate effectively, efficiently and effectively.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that the delegation's visit this time aims to promote the upgrading of Vietnam-Singapore bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2025.

The National Assembly Chairman said that the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Singapore has maintained a stable development momentum in recent times. The economic and trade fields are a bright spot in the relationship between the two countries.

Singapore is Vietnam’s fourth largest trading partner in ASEAN. With about 3,800 projects and a total accumulated investment capital of more than 81 billion USD, Singapore currently ranks second out of 145 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.

Notably, 18 Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in 13 provinces and cities of Vietnam are considered symbols of successful economic cooperation between the two countries. In addition, cooperation between the two countries in other fields such as education-training, labor, etc. has also been promoted.

Appreciating the role of the Vietnamese community in Singapore, which is always united and oriented towards the country, and at the same time is an important bridge in promoting the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore, the National Assembly Chairman affirmed the consistent policy of the Party and State to always care for and look after the Vietnamese community abroad - an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation.

In the coming time, the National Assembly Chairman requested the Ambassador and the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore to continue to unite, join hands, and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work in Singapore.

In addition, well performing assigned tasks, contributing to consolidating and deepening the Vietnam - Singapore Strategic Partnership, including the cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Singaporean National Assembly, towards upgrading to a comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming time.
