National Assembly Chairman receives leader of Japanese Communist Party

On December 6, in Tokyo, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Japan Shii Kazuo.

According to VNA, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his pleasure at meeting Mr. Shii Kazuo; congratulated the Japanese Communist Party on winning many seats in the recent House of Representatives election; and thanked Party Chairman Shii Kazuo for leading the Japanese Communist Party delegation to attend the State funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in July 2024.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam and senior leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam to Party Chairman Shii Kazuo and leaders of the Communist Party of Japan.

Pleased to see that the Vietnam-Japan relationship has made good progress after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations with the two sides upgrading their relationship to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World", the National Assembly Chairman stated that the political trust between the two countries has been increasingly strengthened. Cooperation in economics, investment, trade, tourism, science and technology, education-training, defense, security, etc. has achieved many positive developments.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam consider Japan a top important strategic partner, one of the high priorities in the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification. The Communist Party of Vietnam consistently attaches importance to the traditional solidarity and friendship with the Communist Party of Japan.

Mr. Shii Kazuo emphasized the tradition of solidarity and friendship between the Communist Party of Japan and the Communist Party of Vietnam built from the previous years of revolutionary struggle; affirmed that the Communist Party of Japan always considers the Communist Party of Vietnam a very trustworthy friend and partner; and wishes to continue developing the good relationship between the two Parties.

In the coming time, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Japan Shii Kazuo suggested that the two sides continue to implement agreements on strengthening bilateral relations through regular high-level exchanges and contacts; continue to organize theoretical exchanges; coordinate and support each other at multilateral and international forums.

Agreeing with the assessments and directions for promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two Parties in the coming time, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his deep gratitude for the sentiments and warm sharing that the Communist Party of Japan and Mr. Shii Kazuo personally have for the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two Parties continue to actively coordinate closely in promoting the development of the bilateral relationship to become increasingly strong, comprehensive, and substantive, in line with the new level of the bilateral relationship that was upgraded in 2023; suggested that the Communist Party of Japan continue to have a voice with the Government in promoting and strengthening substantive cooperation in all fields, especially in trade, investment, new-generation official development assistance (ODA), security and defense, etc.; continue to support Vietnam's stance on the East Sea issue, and support the settlement of disagreements by peaceful means on the basis of compliance with international law.

The two leaders affirmed the importance of the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Japan; agreed to continue promoting exchanges and contacts between high-ranking leaders through many flexible forms; and continue to maintain and improve the effectiveness of the mechanism for exchanging theories and sharing views and stances on the world and regional situation.
