National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets with Russian Prime Minister

On the afternoon of January 14, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

According to the National Assembly Electronic Information Portal, speaking at the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Russian Prime Minister's visit is of great significance in implementing the agreements reached by the two countries' senior leaders in recent times, especially after the very exciting contacts and exchanges in 2024; he congratulated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on their very successful talks.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin were pleased to note that the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries continued to be strengthened with high trust, and delegation exchanges were actively implemented, including inter-parliamentary cooperation, which is an important basis for promoting bilateral cooperation in all fields.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mitshustin emphasized that the Russian Federation attaches great importance to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam; he was pleased to see that the relationship between the two countries is developing well, achieving many results in various fields. Notably, economic and trade cooperation is developing dynamically. Cooperation in areas such as science and technology, culture, education, tourism, localities, etc. is increasingly expanding.

The National Assembly Chairman stated that the Vietnamese National Assembly has closely and effectively coordinated with the Federation Council and the State Duma of the Russian Federation Parliament in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. In 2025, the Vietnamese National Assembly is ready to welcome the Chairman of the State Duma to pay an official visit to Vietnam and co-chair the 4th Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

The Vietnamese National Assembly supports the efforts of the Governments and ministries and sectors of the two countries in further strengthening comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, especially in important areas of defense and security, promoting military technical cooperation, developing security industry; promoting cooperation in the fields of energy and oil and gas through research to expand cooperation and signing new cooperation documents.

Regarding economics, trade and investment, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the two governments loosen technical barriers to promote bilateral cooperation as well as cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

In terms of science, education, culture, sports and tourism, the two sides will strengthen cooperation projects and programs, organize exchange and connection activities, bringing practical benefits to localities and people of the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly is ready to coordinate with the governments of the two countries to resolve institutional issues, promote cooperation, and harmonize interests, for the common goal of deepening and making the relationship between the two countries more and more effective.

The National Assembly Chairman stated that, as a responsible member of ASEAN, Vietnam supports the Russian Federation in increasing its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and enhancing cooperation with ASEAN; is ready to act as a bridge to promote the cooperation of the Russian Federation with ASEAN countries; hopes that the Russian Federation will make positive contributions to the common development, peace and prosperity in the region, and supports the stance of ASEAN and Vietnam in resolving disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means, on the basis of respect for international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
