It is expected that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Senate President Sekiguchi Masakazu will sign a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Japanese Senate.

According to VNA, at exactly 7:10 p.m. local time (5:10 p.m. Hanoi time) on December 3, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly, arrived in Tokyo, beginning an official visit to Japan from December 3-7 at the invitation of President of the Japanese House of Councilors Sekiguchi Masakazu and his wife.

Welcoming the delegation at Haneda Airport, Tokyo were Senator Makino - Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Japanese House of Councilors; officials of the Japanese House of Councilors; Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu and his wife, Embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan.

The Vietnam-Japan relationship is a typical example of the success of Vietnam's bilateral cooperation with its partners. Japan maintains its position as Vietnam's leading economic partner, the largest ODA partner, the second largest partner in labor cooperation, the third largest in investment and tourism, and the fourth largest in trade.

The bilateral relationship has recently seen qualitative developments and is at its best stage with a high level of political trust. Exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, have taken place regularly and closely through all channels of the Party, State and National Assembly.

Economic cooperation is increasingly close and in-depth. Local cooperation, cultural exchange, people-to-people exchange and human resource cooperation are increasingly close and effective.

The two countries have just celebrated the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world (2023).

In the overall general relationship, cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Japanese Parliament has been continuously strengthened and developed well over the past time.

It is expected that during the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will hold talks with Senate President Sekiguchi Masakazu, House of Representatives Speaker Nukaga Fukushiro; meet with Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru; greet the Emperor and Empress; receive leaders of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Alliance, leaders of major Japanese political parties, the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations, the People's Diplomacy Promotion Council (FEC), leaders of several large Japanese corporations and enterprises, governors of several localities with close relations with Vietnam; meet with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan, etc.

In particular, during this visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Senate President Sekiguchi Masakazu are expected to sign a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Japanese Senate. This is a very important premise to promote the relationship between the two legislative bodies to new heights in the coming years.
