According to VNA, on the morning of December 2, at the Singapore Parliament Headquarters, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Singaporean Parliament Chairman Seah Kian Peng.
Earlier, on the morning of December 2, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received a number of leaders of large Singaporean businesses.
Receiving Sembcorp Development CEO and VSIP Group Chairman Lee Ark Boon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated Sembcorp Group for investing in 18 Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) projects in 13 provinces and cities and creating jobs for more than 300,000 workers in Vietnam; VSIP is a typical example of the combination of modern infrastructure development and effective foreign investment attraction.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam always values the presence of Singaporean enterprises in Vietnam; wishes to continue cooperating with Sembcorp Group, focusing on projects to develop smart, modern, sustainable industrial park infrastructure and implement clean energy projects.
Sembcorp Group Chairman Lee Ark Boon expressed his honour to meet National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the delegation in Singapore; respectfully announced that Sembcorp has had 28 years of investment and operations in Vietnam. Appreciating the Group's investment activities in Vietnam since 1993, the National Assembly Chairman stated that Vietnam prioritizes the development of green finance, high technology, renewable energy, and green energy, which are areas in which Singapore has strengths; affirming that Vietnam is always ready to create favorable conditions for foreign enterprises, including UOB Bank, to expand investment activities in these areas.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said Vietnam is studying the establishment of an international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang City, hoping to learn from the experience of many countries on this model, including Singapore.
Mr. Wee Ee Cheong, Vice Chairman and CEO of UOB Group, emphasized that Vietnam is always among the top markets where UOB wants to establish long-term cooperation and investment relationships.
Mr. Wee Ee Cheong said that as the only Singaporean bank operating in Vietnam, UOB wishes to further increase its presence by opening a branch in Ho Chi Minh City - one of Vietnam's future international financial centers with the goal of continuing to provide finance to foreign invested enterprises that have been, are and will be doing business in Vietnam, contributing to creating more jobs for workers.
