On December 16, in Can Tho City, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), and the Vietnam Journalists Association held a national press conference to review work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025.
The conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Minister of Information and Communications; Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department.
Information at the conference said that the country currently has 884 press agencies (812 newspapers, magazines and 72 radio and television stations). In terms of revenue in 2024 for the print and electronic press sector, revenue is estimated at 8,080 billion VND, down 6.1% compared to 2023, of which advertising decreased by 5.6%. The Radio and Television sector has a total revenue of over 9,140 billion VND in 2024 (11,939 billion in 2023 VND).
In 2024, press agencies will continue to promote information and propaganda on the implementation and concretization of the 13th National Congress Resolution into life; promote bold, extensive, and highly contagious propaganda of important political and diplomatic events and major holidays of the country.
Continue to proactively promote propaganda on Party building and rectification work; prevent and combat corruption, negativity and waste.
Information and propaganda on the management and implementation of socio-economic goals and targets have many innovations and creativity in the direction of closely following and reflecting vivid reality, thereby analyzing, explaining and proposing and recommending solutions to promote more effective and quality implementation.
Information and propaganda work to protect the Party's ideological foundation and combat erroneous and hostile viewpoints has increasingly gone into depth and achieved positive results.
From August 2024, newspapers will devote space and time to building special pages and columns, organizing seminars and exchanges to inform, propagate and analyze the new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise; highlighting the messages and instructions of General Secretary To Lam on innovating the Party's leadership methods, on digital transformation, on building a socialist rule-of-law state, on removing institutional bottlenecks, on preventing waste, on streamlining and organizing the apparatus, and operating effectively and efficiently...
In particular, the press has promoted information and propaganda, contributing to creating high unity in awareness and action throughout the Party and the entire political system in implementing the summary of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee "Some issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently".
