General Secretary To Lam successfully concluded his visit to the UK, establishing a Vietnam - UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and opening up opportunities for cooperation in many fields.

According to VNA, at noon on October 30 (local time), the plane carrying General Secretary To Lam and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left London Stansted airport in London, successfully concluding the official visit to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

Welcoming General Secretary To Lam and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at the airport, on the side of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, there were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Seema Malhotra; Ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to Vietnam Iain Frew; representative of the Department of ceremony of the newly appointed Foreign Ministry Stephen Walton.

On the Vietnamese side were Vietnamese Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great brits and Northern Ireland Do Minh Hung and his wife; officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy to the United Kingdom of Great brits and Northern Ireland.

During the visit, General Secretary To Lam held talks with Prime Minister Keir Starmer; received leaders of the British Communist Party; met with the President of the British House of Councilors; met with the Group of Inter-party Parliamentarians supporting Vietnam in the British Parliament; met with the President of the House of Representatives; received former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and paid a visit to the hometown of the leader of the socialist classes Karl Marx.

Also during the visit, General Secretary To Lam attended a seminar with UK and world technology experts on artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor chips; attended the Vietnam - UK Business Forum; attended the Vietnam - UK Summit...

During the official visit, the two leaders agreed to upgrade the bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

In the Joint Statement, the two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges and cooperation between agencies and specialized committees of the two countries' National Assemblies, groups of friendly parliamentarians, female parliamentarians, and young parliamentarians; increase the sharing of experiences in legislative supervision and the work of the National Assembly.

The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in developing centers, including Vietnam's International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, through the framework of the Partnership on Vietnam - UK International Financial Centers.

Vietnam and the UK agreed to strengthen cooperation through mobilizing green finance to promote green growth and low emissions; coordinate to share expertise and deploy green finance tools in Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of science - technology and innovation in 2025

The two sides agreed to establish the Vietnam - UK Clean Energy Partnership between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and relevant agencies of the UK to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon and resilient economy in both countries.

The UK affirms that it will continue to support Vietnam in promoting English teaching and training, aiming to make English the second language in Vietnamese schools by 2035 and improve talent development.

The two sides are committed to maintaining and promoting peace, stability, security and prosperity globally, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law, and sharing a common vision of a fair international order based on international law, respect for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The official visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland this time took place on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam - United Kingdom and Northern Ireland Strategic Partnership (2010-2025), an important milestone for the two countries to look back on the past cooperation journey.
