On September 5, the National Assembly Office announced that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man signed and issued Resolution No. 1160/NQ-UBTVQH15 approving the resignation of concurrently holding the position of Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the 15th tenure of Dien Bien province.
Accordingly, the National Assembly Standing Committee approved Mr. Nguyen Van Thang to cease holding the position of Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the 15th tenure of Dien Bien province due to a job transfer.
Previously, on the afternoon of October 21, 2022, the National Assembly voted to pass a Resolution approving the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee, to hold the position of Minister of Transport for the 2021-2026 term.
Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang was born in 1973 in Hanoi. He is a Doctor of Economics specializing in finance and monetary circulation.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang is an alternate member of the 12th Party Central Committee, member of the 13th Party Central Committee, and a National Assembly delegate for two terms (14th and 15th).
In October 2020, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang was appointed by the Politburo to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and was nominated to be elected as Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term; at the same time, he ceased to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee.
On October 15, 2020, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang was elected Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee.
