Attending the groundbreaking ceremony of the Nguyen Trai Bridge Construction Investment Project and Urban Renovating the surrounding area on the afternoon of December 18 were also members of the Party Central Committee, members of the National Assembly Standing Committee, leaders of central ministries, departments, and branches, and leaders of Hai Phong city.
The project to invest in the construction of Nguyen Trai Bridge and urban beautification of the surrounding area includes 2 component projects: Construction of works and land acquisition, compensation, and support for site clearance. This is a group A project, a special-level traffic project, built with the purpose of connecting the newly established Thuy Nguyen city with Ngo Quyen district.
Nguyen Trai Bridge is built with a permanent structure across the Cam River with a main bridge length of about 1,476m; the main bridge section is 550m long (a cable-stayed bridge, the main span has 1 cable plane, the side span has 2 cable planes); the tower height is 111m; the main bridge width is 26.5m, the approach bridge is 23.5m, including 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 sidewalks.
The project also builds an intersection connecting the main bridge with Le Thanh Tong Street with circular connecting branches, each branch is 10m wide. The right branch bridge is longer than 675m; the left branch bridge is longer than 447m; Expanding Nguyen Trai Street from the current section with a width of 18m to (43.50 to 50.5m), connecting with the current section of the intersection area with Le Hong Phong Street with a width of 50.5m.
At the same time, build the Cam River road connecting Ngo Quyen Street with the riverside road in Hoang Van Thu bridge area and the roads connecting the Cam River road in the project with Hoang Dieu Street...
Along with that, the city will relocate and clear the Hoang Dieu port area from the Hoang Dieu and Le Thanh Tong streets to the Cam River bank. Relocate and clear the railway station area in front of the port. Clear the Nguyen Trai street area from the 6-way intersection to Le Thanh Tong street, the bridge and approach road on the Thuy Nguyen city side, the road along the Cam River from the Hoang Dieu port boundary to the intersection between Le Lai and Ngo Quyen streets.
The total investment of the project is more than 6,235.5 billion VND, of which the construction project has a total investment of 4,416 billion VND; Land acquisition, compensation, and site clearance support has a total investment of 1,819 billion VND, the project implementation period is from 2021 - 2027.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said that in recent years, Hai Phong City has focused on investing in expanding urban space to the North of Cam River. In 2017, the city started the project to invest in building technical infrastructure for the new urban area of Bac Song Cam with a scale of more than 324 hectares, including the construction of Hoang Van Thu bridge across Cam River. Next, Hai Phong invested in building the City's Political - Administrative Center and the City's Conference - Performance Center in the above area. By May 2025, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and other city agencies will move to the North Song Cam Political - Administrative Center to work.
In particular, according to Chairman Nguyen Van Tung, on October 24, 2024, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed Resolution No. 1232 on the establishment of Thuy Nguyen City under Hai Phong City, so people in surrounding localities tend to move here to live. To ensure the need to travel across the Cam River more conveniently and smoothly, Hai Phong City has decided to invest in building Nguyen Trai Bridge - the 6th bridge across the Cam River and the 4th bridge leading to the North Song Cam New Urban Area.
