During his official visit to the Dominican Republic, on the afternoon of November 20, local time, at the Dominican Republic National Assembly Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had meetings with Senate President Ricardo de los Santos Polanco and House of Representatives President Alfredo Pacheco.
According to VNA, at the meetings, the two leaders of the Dominican Republic's National Assembly warmly welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh leading a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit the Dominican Republic. This is an event of important historical significance when the Prime Minister is the first high-ranking leader of Vietnam to visit the Dominican Republic, taking place in the context of positive developments in the relationship between the two countries towards the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (July 7, 2005 - July 7, 2025).
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his gratitude for the warm and hospitable reception of the National Assembly and people of the Dominican Republic for the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation and affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with the Dominican Republic in its overall foreign policy towards the Latin American - Caribbean region in general and towards the National Assembly of the Dominican Republic in particular.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared with the two leaders of the Dominican Republic’s National Assembly the good results of his previous talks with President Luis Abinader Corona, in which the two sides issued a joint statement, agreeing to increase delegation exchanges and promote further improvement of the legal framework for bilateral cooperation in all areas of cooperation.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also announced that he had proposed that the two sides soon negotiate a free trade agreement, an investment protection agreement, cultural cooperation, education, training, and general visa exemption.
Highly appreciating the results achieved at the talks between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Luis Abinader Corona, the two leaders of the Dominican Republic's National Assembly affirmed their support for the directions and measures of the two governments to bring the bilateral friendship and cooperation to a new stage of development, effectively and practically serving the development of each country. At the same time, they pledged to strongly support the two countries' early negotiation of agreements on free trade, investment protection, cultural cooperation, education, training and general visa exemption, saying that the early achievement of these agreements will bring practical benefits to businesses and people of the two countries, strongly contributing to bringing the relationship between the two countries to a new level.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister conveyed the gratitude of the National Assembly of Vietnam to the Senate of the Dominican Republic for recently arranging a thoughtful reception for the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam led by Chairman Vu Hai Ha on a working visit to the Dominican Republic (July 2024). He also welcomed and highly appreciated the establishment of the Friendship Parliamentary Group with Vietnam by the Senate of the Dominican Republic and informed that the National Assembly of Vietnam had established the Friendship Parliamentary Group with the Dominican Republic on November 15, 2024, believing that this is an important channel of cooperation between the two National Assemblies in particular and will contribute to promoting relations between the two countries in general.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, on behalf of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, conveyed his regards and invitation to Senate President Ricardo de los Santos Polanco and House of Representatives President Alfredo Pacheco to make an official visit to Vietnam, and the two leaders of the Dominican Republic's National Assembly happily accepted the invitation.
